I support the scheme - anything that brings money to our seafront has to be a good thing. I just hope the parking issues are addressed, otherwise we'll still have visitors leaving because there's nowhere to park - just more of them.
As for the area marked for development, what about a top class hotel? We've been saying Ilfracombe has needed one for years. This would be a prime location.

I think that as a child living in Ilfracombe that there isn't anything to do in the holidays. Please could we have something on the seafront for kids to do? I like the museum but you wouldn't want to keep going over and over, so that's better for visitors. I would like a climbing centre like at The Mill in South Molton or some other fun activity like skating that we can do when the weather is bad.

Generally a good plan. Atleast it's investment in Ilfracombe.
Go for it Councillors - but with amendments please.
1) However, as usual the car parking issue is yet to be resolved. If we are to help the attractions and businesses along the Front and in the High Street, do not forget, we do need more usable car parking within the central core of our town.
The Larkstone car park is too far out to be used in reality.
2) More of a link should be established in the design to encourage a flow of people up to the High Street. Perhaps we need more than just small finger post signage as we have now.
3) The new building roof design and volume is too dominant and may be visually intrusive especially looking down on it. Bury some of it into the hillside to have a design link to the Towers. Maybe they'll be nick named the "Mizzen Huts"
4) If we are covering the Museum building and all but hiding the old building, why not knock it down and build an efficient new one. More space for exhibits.
5) Pathways on Southern Slopes will need replanning to ensure a good level of flow and access for all routes.

Really good to see some positive comments from the public consultation, this project has to have the "wow" factor if we are to stand any chance of pulling funds together. If we are to succeed in raising the town's economic aspirations then we need to give folk a good reason to visit us, that means facilities and top class accommodation. This concept goes some way into starting the regeneration process.
I'm sure if we are successful other projects will follow. Even if not successful on this occasion :P we have a blueprint that people will sign up to when the next round of funding becomes available. Timing is everything, as we have found out in the past.

genuinely pleased to see nothing less than the onset of a new chapter for the town - a "new" Ilfracombe as it were. I believe I understand the lobby that are opposed to change in the town because its such an un spoilt gem of a place to live ,however, it's been suggested to me that there needs to be an undercover play area for full time parents and their small children and that the building on the spur to be used as an ice rink or a gym. Just think !- a real alternative to the pubs in the town for the young men and women here.I think these are appropriate notions because we need to consider the year round parents of under school age children here not just the holiday makers and their revenue. When there is somewhere informal ( and cheap ) for mums and dads to meet this will help combat social isolation.I'm behind these proposals all the way.

Yes Swiftnick good idea undercover area but we had one previously called the Pavilion but like the old hotel (Holiday Inn/Grand) which would have maded a great theatre and ballroom
which was already there but no we have to look at what looks like cooling towers for a Nuclaer power station. In my humble opinion is so inviting.

I think we're talking about an all-weather attraction for kids and parents, not sure the Stagedoor fits that description, unless you're talking about a different Stagedoor to the pub opposite the Landmark.
Yes, I agree - some kind of play zone with decent facilities for parents to sit and drink coffee (or something stronger!) would be very welcome in the town. If it was something like skating, you'd pull in visitors from all over North Devon.
