How many councillors does it take to plant a tree? On Saturday 5^th December it took six of them plus another fifteen volunteers. But then they only had an hour, and they did plant 201 of them!

The volunteers were taking part in the BBC Breathing Places World Record attempt to plant the most trees in an hour and when they arrived at the Lime Kiln path at Torrs Park they were rewarded with a dry morning, with even a dash of winter sunlight as they began their back-breaking but rewarding task at 11am.

Mayor of Ilfracombe Councillor Philip Webb and Town Crier Roy Goodwin had no idea they were to have a little part in West Country maritime movie history when they boarded the MV Balmoral to celebrate the last call of her 60th anniversary year.

New brand says "Take another look at Ilfracombe and be surprised"

Ilfracombe's new image was unveiled to Ilfracombe's tourism and business communities today (Thursday 19 November) at a Brand Launch event held at the Landmark Theatre. A new logo in two options of 'corporate' colours was revealed together with a brand manual including a new image bank to ensure that from now on, wherever Ilfracombe’s identity is used in marketing or publicity it is of a consistent high quality.
