In a special meeting held on Monday evening (19th January 2009) Ilfracombe Town Council set its budget and voted to hold its precept on council tax for 2009/10 to a below inflationary rate of 2.81%, a much lower increase than in the previous two years.
Front-line staff at the Ilfracombe Centre had an unusual customer on Thursday 20th November, when Prince Edward, HRH the Earl of Wessex flew in to Ilfracombe to spend the day finding out what goes on in the town.
Ilfracombe Town Council is guaranteeing a warm welcome whatever the weather on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December when the town switches on its Christmas Lights. Doors to the town council building, which is expediently situated in the centre of the High Street, will be open to all from 7pm for people to come in from the cold, partake of refreshments and find out more about their town council.
