In these financially straitened times, Ilfracombe Town Council recognises that small organisations carrying out worthy activities within the town may be feeling the pinch more than normal. The town council has a budget to provide small grants of up to £500 to such organisations and applications are being invited from 17th July
Ilfracombe Town Council, in conjunction with Devon County Council (DCC), is asking for residents' feedback on planned changes to street lighting. In an effort to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs, DCC has entered the second year of a programme to introduce part-night street lighting in Devon. Ilfracombe Town Council would like residents to give their opinion on the policy and note any issues which may arise if particular street lights were included in the scheme.
A new collaboration between Ilfracombe Town council and North Devon Council has its sights set on some of the town's empty buildings and development sites. This will result in the use of legal interventions forcing owners of properties - many of them not resident in the area - to make safe, clean up and improve their building or land within a given timescale or be subject to prosecution.
