Councillor for Ilfracombe Central Ward
We bought our property in 2000 and invested in local businesses to refurbish it, opening as a guest house in 2001; since then we have continually invested in the business and have achieved a Five Star Silver Award rating by VisitBritain. This attracts higher spending visitors who seek, and are prepared to pay for, quality accommodation and their spending in the town helps towards the regeneration efforts for the town.
I was invited to join Ilfracombe Together to stand for Town Council in the 2003 elections, and won a seat in Central Ward, and have worked diligently since then for the benefit of the town.
In 2005 I was asked to stand as Mayor and had the honour of serving and promoting the town throughout the North Devon area.
I am a member of the strategy group of the council that has been largely involved in successfully securing the funding for the refurbishment of the council offices; and have served as Chairman of the Finance & General Purposes Committee. I will continue to serve the town to the best of my ability.
